GRP Chamber Cover for Anglian Water, Southend | Vital GRP

Vital GRP was approached by M&C Engineering to design, manufacture, and install a replacement chamber cover system for an outfall chamber located at an Anglian Water site in Southend.

Project scope

  • Site survey and access review for the rooftop ASHP plantroom.

  • Raised access floor formed from 50 mm open-mesh GRP grating.

  • Cut-to-size grating panels installed onto existing steel beam supports.

  • Purpose-built GRP access steps, up to 500 mm high.

  • J-clamp fixings for secure grating-to-steelwork connection.

  • Saturday-only delivery coordinated around live school operations.

  • Three-person installation team planned for efficient site delivery.

Designed for practical rooftop maintenance access

Lightweight system build-up

GRP provided a practical access-floor solution with low self-weight, avoiding the need for a heavier fabricated steel deck.

Anti-slip access surface

The open-mesh grating floor gave maintenance personnel a stable, drainage-friendly walking surface suitable for exposed rooftop use.

Modular installation approach

Cut-to-size panels and mechanical clamp fixings supported a controlled installation around existing steelwork and plant infrastructure.
