Project Overview

The Barakah Nuclear Power Plant is the first commercial nuclear power station in the United Arab Emirates and one of the largest energy infrastructure developments in the Middle East. Constructed to deliver reliable, low-carbon electricity for the region, the facility demands engineering solutions that meet the highest standards of safety, reliability and long-term performance. 


Vital GRP was selected to supply a complete Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) access solution, providing bespoke access platforms, walkway systems and modular key clamp handrails throughout operational and maintenance areas. By utilising GRP composite materials, the project benefited from lightweight construction, exceptional corrosion resistance and significantly reduced maintenance requirements compared with traditional steel access systems.

Project scope

Vital GRP delivered a complete engineered access solution for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi, supplying bespoke GRP access platforms, walkway systems and modular key clamp handrails for use across critical infrastructure areas. Working closely with the project team, our specialists designed a lightweight, corrosion-resistant access system that met the demanding safety and operational requirements of the nuclear energy sector. 


The solution provided safe pedestrian access, long-term durability and reduced maintenance while supporting efficient installation on one of the region's largest infrastructure developments.

The client required a walkway system capable of performing reliably throughout large-scale outdoor festivals while reducing ongoing maintenance and replacement costs.
